About Me

I grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and moved to Columbus in 1985 to attend school.  I graduated with a Bachelors of Science from DeVry University in 1989 and have been located in here ever since.  I've been working in the IT industry ever since, starting out in Development and quickly moved into Software Configuration Management (SCM).  Worked in this role for various companies (almost all in the telecommunications industry) until November of 2003, when I was laid off from Lucent Tecnhologies.  Worked a few other areas for a time until landing at AEP in July of 2004.

I started at AEP with reviewing SCM technologies, then helping implement CVS as an Enterprise initiative.  From there my position grew into other technologies used to support the software development process including managing development tool licenses, working with SDLC processes, and promoting the technologies to help the developers get their jobs done.  Today, here are the main areas I focus on:

  1. Microsoft SharePoint - This is what I spend most of my time on.  SharePoint is an application/platform that is key to our collaboration strategy here at AEP.  I am the subject matter expert for SharePoint, working on a team to develop and document our processes around governance, security, use here at AEP, and opportunites for future growth.  I also teach teams how to leverage it and get the most out of it, and help with design and customization as needed.
  2. Flexnova Caseworks - This is an application that sits on Microsoft Sharepoint that assists the Utility Industry in managing the rate cases that are presented to the Public Utility Commissions in the various States and jurisdictions serviced by AEP & its operating companies.

If I had a mission statement, I'd place it here.

I'll get around to it eventually. :-)
